Starting at 8 a.m. this morning, students can vote for president, vice-president and representatives of the Associated Students of NMU (ASNMU) for the 2023-2024 academic year. The poll will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 7.

There are a few ways to access online voting. Students can vote using the link which will be shared via email by ASNMU. The link can also be found on the ASNMU website in the Elections and Referenda section, and ASNMU’s social media sites: @nmu_asnmu on Instagram and Associated Students of Northern Michigan University – ASNMU on Facebook.

On the ballot for President is current ASNMU President, Zora Binert, with current College of Health Sciences and Professional Studies Representative, Micah Benjamin, as her running mate for vice president.

Also running for president, is current ASNMU Vice-President Gwen Feamster, with current College of Arts and Sciences Representative, Anna Tousley, as her running mate for vice president.

A full list of candidates running for each position in both the Governing Board and General Assembly can be found here.

“We all have the opportunity to vote, it doesn’t cost you anything except a few minutes,” said Olivia Dunn, ASNMU Chair of Elections and Chair of Academic Affairs. “These are the people on campus who will make your voice heard and advocate for you and have the power to make change on this campus.”

Last Wednesday, March 29th, presidential and vice presidential candidates debated several topics of interest, outlining their goals for the upcoming academic year if they are elected.

On Friday, April 14, there will be a transfer of power to the new assembly at 2:30 p.m. in Jamrich 1315.
