Black Student Union celebrates Black Love Day with bake sale

The Black Student Union (BSU) hosted its annual Black Love Day Bake Sale on Feb. 13 in the Jamrich Hall ticketing booth.

“[Black Love Day] supports the forgiveness, acceptance and love amongst Black people and in the Black community, so this bake sale is to bring awareness to that,” MarLanaysia Rosser, BSU president said. “We’ve met a lot of people. A lot of professors have stopped by, and I’ve learned new names. I think the turnout is going really [well], I think we made a good amount of money.”

The fundraiser will allow the student organization to purchase merchandise and host group outings to experience new things in Marquette.

“A lot of times if we do an activity, we’ll just split the costs or if it’s something on the lower end, then we can just pay for everyone to go,” Rosser said.

Next week, BSU will continue celebrating Black History Month with a natural hair workshop, a history of hip hop event and a screening of “The Color Purple” co-hosted with Campus Cinema.
