SPECIAL MEETING — NMUs Board of Trustees met on Thursday morning for an eleven-minute special meeting to discuss the UAW Memorandum Number Four asking for an acceleration in the 2021-2026 contract pay scale. This increase in the pay scale affects roughly 70% of the union members.

OPEN SKATE — NMU Students gather at Lakeview Arena for Open Skate Night. The Special Events Committee is hosting two upcoming skate nights for the semester on Friday, Feb. 3 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Olson Rink and on Thursday, March 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Russell Rink.

MELODIOUS MEMORIES - This is me on my fourth birthday, proudly holding one of my most iconic gifts. This plastic pink Barbie guitar played a set of preloaded songs, the most memorable of which was What a Girl Wants by Christina Aguilera. I remember singing along to all the songs, citing every word at four. My life is riddled with memories set to song, thanks to my family members sharing their passion for music.

The North Wind digital paper is published every Friday during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.
