Hazy Seas + Backspace at Gitche Gumee

Gitche Gumee Café & Records attracted a large crowd of students and young adults alike this past Friday, November 13th at 9 pm, to enjoy a free concert featuring local bands Hazy Seas and Backspace. Both bands include Northern Michigan University students. The venue’s door was ajar much of the night with patrons completely filling the space.

Marking their second-ever show, Hazy Seas opened the night. Band members include Alec Heredia as vocalist, guitar, and keys; Jack Kumos for vocals, guitar, and keys; Jacob Lebya on bass; and Jake Edwards on drums.

Following up their opening jam session was Backspace, an alternative band already known and raved about among a portion of the student body. Backspace recently released their first full-length album, Post-Life Crisis, featuring 11 original tracks. Post-Life Crisis can be streamed and purchased on Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, and Google Play. Backspace is composed of Luke Faste, vocals and guitar; Andrew Kruske, vocals and guitar; and Jake Edwards on drums.

Gitche Gumee is located in the Village Shopping Center off of Third Street in downtown Marquette. Fresh to the local business scene, Gitche Gumee offers a chill hangout space for anyone with a love for vinyl, good coffee, and local art.
