About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

TRADITION — Established in 1979, the Moosemen hold the distinction of being NMUs oldest campus club.

Wildcat of the week

Senior running Jake Mayon helped guide the Wildcat football team to their first win of the season. Mayon rushed the ball 35 times for 224 yards, a 6.4 yards per carry. Mayon also rushed for a season-long run of 25 yards to help seal the victory for the Wildcat’s. Mayon has rushed for 397 yards through two games.
