About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Rachel Helm was named GLAIC Women’s Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after a standout performance at the Calvin College Invitational. Helm posted an NCAA A-Cut time of 53.90 in the 100-yard Backstroke during the preliminary races, qualifying for the NCAA Championships meet. She then went on to win the 200-backstroke along with two other events.
