Marquette offers new COVID-19 testing spots, old hospital used again

UPHS+Testing
COVID TESTING —UPHS opened a new location for testing in Marquette. The old hospital will see some life once again, as it will now be open to the public for drive through testing at the old ER entrance. Testing is by appointment only, however. Justin Van’t Hof/NW

Many students want to take a COVID-19 test before traveling home for winter break. Whether they are symptomatic or not, it is possible to receive testing in Marquette and surrounding areas. It is important to note, however, that testing criteria is different for certain locations. Lucky for Marquette, UP Health System has opened a new location that makes it easy for residents to get a quick and easy test with no prior physician order required.

New to Marquette and freshly opened to the public, UP Health System (UPHS) is now performing COVID-19 tests at the old hospital. This is located at 420 W. Magnetic St. It is impossible to miss; this location is simply the old ER entrance of the old Marquette Hospital. For more information on this location and for scheduling a test, call (906) 449-1660. They are open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and offer drive through testing.

Another option is the UPHS Bell Clinic, located at 901 Lakeshore Dr. Suite 210, in Ishpeming. Their phone number is (906) 485-2749, and they are open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This option is a bit earlier and may work better for some who work at 9 a.m. Finally, UPHS has another location in Ishpeming offered through their Express Care clinic. This is located at the same address, but does scheduling separately. Their number is (906) 485-7777 and their hours are Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. to provide hours outside the week.

Other places in Marquette that provide testing include but are not limited to the following. Walgreens @ (800) 925-4733 (appointment required), Marquette VA Outpatient Clinic @ (906) 226-4618 (appointment required, referral required, and with tests limited to certain patients.) Superior Walk-In Center & Family Health-Marquette @ (906) 226-2233.
