Two days after the NMU Hockey team had to postpone its series with Alabama-Huntsville due to COVID-19, the Wildcats will take the ice this weekend against a different opponent – Michigan Tech. The Huskies’ originally scheduled opponent, Lake Superior State, couldn’t play due to recent COVID-19 tests in the program, the WCHA announced on Friday afternoon.

Northern Michigan looks to avenge its six-game losing streak in the home-and-home series with the Huskies that’ll take place over a three-day period. These two teams played back in December in a series that saw MTU pick up the sweep over the Wildcats with a 4-3 overtime win in the first game, and a more decisive 3-1 victory in the second game.

The ‘Cats will travel to Houghton on Saturday, Jan. 23 for a puck drop at 4:07 p.m., and the two teams will play at the Berry Events Center in Marquette in the second game on Monday, Jan. 25 at 5:07 p.m.
