On Saturday, Sept. 30, Northern Michigan University’s President Brock Tessman will be running a fun run/walk starting at the North Trail Head outside the Lodge. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with pre-run snacks and drinks provided in the Woods Lodge and the run/walk starting at 10 a.m.

This run/walk is not timed. The purpose of this event is to get participants into the mindset of the “wellbeing theme” highlighted at the Investiture Ceremony. The fun run will happen the day after President Tessman’s Investiture Ceremony which will take place on Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Forest Roberts Theatre.

“It’s really not about me as president, but to find a good place and find footing,” Tessman said. “And the Investiture Ceremony is this really beautiful moment to kind of take stock and celebrate our history and all of our achievements and accomplishments to date.”

President Tessman was voted in as NMU’s president a year ago and officially started his role in February. He has shown his involvement in the community and the university throughout the last couple of weeks with the beginning of classes and homecoming activities, and is continuing to do so through activities such as the fun run.

Anyone interested in participating in the run/walk can register on The Hub, and all participants will get a free t-shirt.

My name is Abby, I am a fourth-year student at Northern. I am studying Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Political Science. I've always been passionate about journalism since I was in high school. I was offered this position as a Journalism Practicum student and am now so thankful to have the opportunity to write for The Northwind as the new Features Editor. I've found that The Northwind has led me to more connections throughout the university and community than I would find on my own. I'm always interested in getting to know new people and what's happening around Marquette.
