The university community is remembering a student who died Sunday by lowering its campus flags to half-staff today.

Computer science major Steven Pozega, 21, was an active student at NMU. Before enrolling at NMU in 2017, Pozega attended Marquette Senior High School and Luther L. Wright High School and took courses at Gogebic Community College.

Pozega was an avid skateboarder and snowboarder, enjoyed creating digital videos and practiced computer programming, according to his obituary. He was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey.

“He was much loved by his family, a very loving and protective older brother,” said Pozega’s obituary. “Family and friends will forever miss his quiet wit and sarcastic sense of humor.”
