Marquette Ending Hunger (MEH) was created as a way to raise awareness about issues around hunger and food insecurity in Marquette and find ways to help combat it. “Every donation we receive reminds me that we live in such a caring place,” MEH President Maija Mattson, senior speech language and hearing sciences major said. “Watching others realize the issues surrounding our local community and wanting to get involved in the solution is my favorite part of being involved.” Each year, the organization is in charge of NMU’s TV6 Canathon which ended Wednesday, Dec. 5. They also participate in Marquette Empty Bowls, a fundraising event. To get involved, students can join the MEH Facebook group and are encouraged to help out because every can counts.
