CLIMB ON — Despite bruised shins and jelly limbs, I (climbing on the right) reached the top of this 70-foot ice formation — affectionately named “The Dryer Hose” — with several words of encouragement and a few breaks. While physical strength is a must to reach the top, the mental roadblocks were much more complicated to conquer as I clung to the face of the ice.

ADVOCACY — EQMI is an LGBTQ + advocacy and victim advocate services organization nonprofit that is based in lower Michigan that advocates for the rights of LGBTQ + individuals and communities as well as providing victim services. Fans of the animated series “The Legend of Korra” and its popular prequel series “Avatar the Last Airbender” will be excited to note that NMU’s 2021 Gender Fair will include a discussion of the topic of “Bisexuality and Disability in Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra.”
Peter Smedley/NW PRIDE MONTH— Although last year saw the cancellation of gender fair, the event has adjusted to a virtual format. 2020 marks the 4th annual gender fair at NMU.
